I approach therapy with the belief that meaningful change happens when we slow down enough to really listen to what is going on for us. Therapy is a space to pause, reflect, and speak honestly about what feels stuck, overwhelming, or uncertain, without pressure to have it all figured out. You do not need to arrive with clear answers or a specific plan.
In our work together, we may explore nervous system responses, recurring patterns, family dynamics, boundaries, self esteem, and anxiety. I often support people who find themselves in an in between stage of life, where things are shifting and uncertain. My approach focuses on building awareness and making steady, realistic changes that feel supportive and sustainable.
I have a background working with individuals with disabilities, which continues to shape how I show up in my work. This experience grounded my belief in meeting people where they are, respecting each person’s capacity, and approaching change with patience and care. Alongside this, my experience as a yoga teacher influences how I practice therapy. I believe our experiences live in the body, and that meaningful change often begins by noticing how stress, emotions, and patterns show up physically, not just in our thoughts.
The name Soul Work reflects a core belief in how I practice. I believe that on some level, our soul already knows what we need. When we slow down and trust our inner knowing, we can be guided toward it. Therapy is about creating the space to explore that, uncover it, and take steps toward it in a way that feels supportive and real.
Hi, I’m Ellen
My areas of focus include:
Family Dynamics & Boundaries: Whether it’s managing guilt, shifting roles, or figuring out how to stay connected without losing yourself, I aim to support clients as they explore these dynamics and move toward more honest, balanced relationships.
Self-Esteem & Anxiety: Confidence, perfectionism, and people pleasing are patterns that often underlie anxiety and influence how we show up in relationships, work, and daily life. I work with clients to understand these experiences, build a stronger sense of self, and create space for self compassion, healthy boundaries, and emotional clarity.
Life Changes & Uncertainty: I support clients navigating the uncertainty that comes with growing up, shifting careers, relationships, grief, and the pressure of timelines.
Caregiver Support & Burnout: I support clients explore patterns and expectations that may be contributing to overwhelm while also identifying practical ways to protect energy and build resilience. The goal is to move beyond just coping and toward feeling more grounded and connected to ourselves while continuing to show up for the people who need us the most.
My approach is collaborative and client-centred, using evidence-based modalities such as Attachment Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), CBT, Narrative Therapy, and other strength-based methods.
Please note: Ellen works with clients aged 10 and up.
